It’s February, the month of love and hearts and pink fluffy clouds so I thought I’d be just like everyone else and write a post about love. I will not express my feelings about a special one nor I will write about Valentine’s day and all that crap teaching us to show our love on a particular day of the year when chocolates are overpriced and a bunch of flowers is worth ten times its usual.

I’ve always been the one who sees love in all its beauty and expresses it whenever and wherever. There is so much love around us but we just don’t see it. We get hung up in our daily routines and stress even about a cup of coffee that was too hot when we purchased it and forget to smile, forget to love and allow to be loved. We pick ourselves up in February when stores and media tell us we need to celebrate love and try and do grand gestures, buy expensive gifts and feel cupid’s power for twenty four hours. Come the fifteenth of Feb and we get back to taking each other for granted and forget all about expressing our deepest feelings.

I come and ask you WHY? Why don’t we celebrate love every day? Why don’t we say I LOVE YOU and I MISS YOU every day? Why can’t we just surprise our other half on a random day of the year by buying them a present, preparing a wonderful meal or taking them on a spontaneous date? On what occasion? NONE. It can be on a random Wednesday because you woke up smiling and the sun is shining, because you noticed a beautiful scarf in a shop and you know it would compliment them.

β€œLove is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.”

Love is not one day a year. Love is all around us but we just don’t see it. Love is in that book you receive because your partner knows you would enjoy it so much. Love is in the morning kiss before you live for work. It is in the coffee he made you on a Sunday morning. Love is in that evening cuddle on the sofa when your child is asleep and you smile at each other thinking you have done a good job. I see and feel love in a walk in the park on a day off, I feel it all around me because I choose to

Don’t just wait for Valentine’s day to do something for a loved one. It might just be too late and you’ll regret it your entire life. Open your heart to giving and receiving love. Smile more, feel the love and show it to those who don’t.

Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.

This is one of my favorite love quotes and it’s from A WALK TO REMEMBER. It just reminds us that we shouldn’t lose ourselves in jealousy, we shouldn’t just receive but also give. Love should be shared and kind and should make us stronger. Only through love we can overcome difficult times, we can go through painful experiences and learn to move on. Only through love we learn to grow.

Every day remember that love is all around us. It is that missing puzzle piece that completes the entire picture. Love is sometimes scary but it’s also empowering. It is unconditional and pure. Embrace it don’t hide from it
